Henry Hudson has had many impacts on Canada from good to bad. One major positive impact Henry Hudson had on Canada was making a map of the unknown land in North America including Canada. Henry Hudson's exploration of the Hudson River led to one of the most important and spectacular trade routes in the history of the United States. When Henry Hudson was with the Dutch East India company, he found the land surrounding the Hudson River and claimed it for Holland. It is now New York. Henry Hudson also travelled the Atlantic waters which is now Newfoundland and Labrador. Hudson is basically credited for helping to draw the map of North America and advancing knowledge. Hudson's mapping of unchartered waters and land was also a negative impact. When the Europeans heard about the successes Hudson had with the Native Americans with fur trading, they came to these lands to seek the same fortunes. The Europeans didn't just trade fur with the Native Americans, they fought with them so that they could inhabit their lands. In the end, this resulted in the demise of the Native American tribes.
