The picture above is Henry Hudson's grandfather.
Henry Hudson's most important influence was his beloved grandfather. His grandfather taught him a lot of things from teaching him how to make a map and learn coordinates to teaching him how to zoom in and out with a telescope. His grandfather also taught him how to use a compass. Using a compass is one of the most important tools a explorer has to use. A compass tells them which direction they are going. Either north, south, east or west. Henry Hudson was motivated by his grandfather. His grandfather owned the Muscovy Company that funded Henry Hudson his first two voyages. It is believed that Henry Hudson's grandfather was a man of great influence. Henry Hudson himself was curious about furthering knowledge and used this curiosity, his perseverance and courage to advocate for funding to find the northwest passage, which he was convinced existed. His ultimate goal was to find this northwest passage to Asia. Although he did not complete this goal, he was instrumental in helping draw the map of North America and understanding the world.
